comes partly from Biberach - at least as
far as the public electricity supply is concerned. ABB switchgear technology ensures that
everything can run without interruption at the Biberach transformer substation of EVS
Energieversorgung Schwaben AG. Particularly for protection against accidental
arcs, EVS trust in ABB technology and know-how, since any arc occurring has fatal
consequences in the open-air installation at Biberach: the entire installation is
affected, the expense of cleaning is huge, and the outage can be as long as ten hours. |
The TVOC
arc-monitoring protection system from ABB Switchgear and Control-gear
Engineering is used at EVS to maintain and increase availability of the installation. Six
arc monitors with 40 detectors monitor the continuity of the power supply. In
addition, the arc monitors are combined with two current-monitor relays. Not only is
spurious tripping reliably prevented, in particular, selective disconnection of parts of
the installation is possible. The area of gear affected by the arc can be isolated within
60 ms; the remaining areas of the installation remain in service - for an undisturbed
power supply in the district.
