Switchgear engineering from ABB for 28,000 m2

Ideas as far as they eye can see

This was the situation in July 1998: at Patsdorf in Munich, one of the largest and most-modern furniture stores in Bavaria was opened. With a display area of 28,000 m2, the Segmüller furniture store offers four floors of ideas for the home. So that the customer does not have to wait long for his new furniture, the adjacent East Bavaria Regional Stores ensure short delivery times.
The electricity supply to the entire complex - planned by the planning company Stelzl-Consulting, Vaterstetten und IBB-Bakic of Kirchheim - is via four transformers, each of 1250 kVA, to medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgear from ABB.

And because absolute reliability and the greatest safety are required, combined with great flexibility, the main responsibility is assigned to Megamax circuit-breakers, Isomax compact circuit-breakers and SlimLine in-line fuse switch-disconnectors - all from ABB’s switchgear and control-gear product range. The scope of the equipment includes a medium-voltage substation with 14 MNS switch-panels/bays, and a main low-voltage distribution board with 16 bays, mini Megamax 2500 open-type circuit-breakers, five Isomax compact circuit-breakers for 400 A and 250 A, plus 15 SlimLine in-line fuse switch-disconnectors. Two low-voltage sub-distribution boards were connected to the main distribution board via 3000 A and 2500 A conductor-bar system. The eight switch-panels accommodate two Megamax 2500 A switches, 16 Isomax circuit-breakers for 400 A and 250 A, various SlimLine blocks and 16 KNS switch cabinets. The back-up power supply is provided by a substation with a 350 kVA generator, four MNS switch-panels, two Isomax 630 A compact circuit-breakers and seven SlimLine in-line fuse switch-disconnectors. This equipment enables all the display levels of the Segmüller store always to be adequately supplied with power - reliably and flexibly for sure.
