smissline-S at the University

A system with future

By the middle of the year 1999, Kiel University had renewed the protection of the power circuits and installations of the administrative block. The year before, Mr Baasner of Unibauamt Kiel had acquired positive experience of the smissline-S busbar-and-socket system, so that decision was made to opt in this case too for the safety and flexibility of the smissline-S system. To quote Mr Baasner: "In a high-rise building, certain rules and safety regulations have to be observed without fail. Flexibility in handling and technology with a sure future must nowadays also be included with the important aspects of fire safety and installation availability."

Changes were frequently called for during the design phase. With smissline-S, one is well prepared for such changes, since, by means of the plug-in technology, the protective switchgear can quickly and easily be integrated into the system or be removed from it. Additional incoming wiring is not required. Overall visibility is returned in the switch cubicle, without loss of flexibility for future changes.
The advantages of smissline-S will also become apparent at Kiel in the long term, since smissline-S was also used to protect electronic data processing. Since, however, due to developments in computer engineering and in progressive automation, changes will be on the agenda, smissline-S is also in the long run the most flexible, and thereby the most cost-effective solution - truly a system with a future.
