ABB has good air-conditions in train

The ICE3 is the latest figurehead in the fleet of coaches of Deutsche Bahn AG.
Good air-conditions in the train are ensured, amongst other things, by air-conditioning equipment from the firm HFG-Friveley GmbH & Co. KG of Kiel. The switch cabinets for this equipment were supplied by the firm K&H Elektronik of Bordesholm.

For the safety devices in the switch cabinet, reliance was placed in the far north of Germany on the automatic high-breaking-capacity circuit-breakers in ABB’s S 220 series. For rated voltages up to 690 V AC, these industrial miniature circuit-breakers provide effective protection against excessive temperature rises in the electrical equipment in the event of overcurrent due to overload, short-circuit or earth fault. For each pole, the current-limiting S 220 series has two different releases acting on a common switching mechanism: firstly, an overcurrent-protection release with a delayed thermal action; secondly, an electromagnetic instantaneous release for protection against short-circuits. As a further safety feature, it is impossible to touch live parts of automatic circuit-breakers in the S 220 series.

ABB has played its part in achieving good air-conditions with the S 220 automatic circuit-breakers.
